Vancouver Warrior 14 - Panther City Lacrosse Club 8

Inaugural Game, Inaugural Season for North Texas' Pro Box Lacrosse Franchise.

Logan Schuss led the Vancouver Warriors with a one goal and six assist effort to defeat the Panther City Panthers 14-8 in a National Lacrosse League Western Division contest Friday Evening, Opening Night of the Inaugural Season at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.

Two other Warriors with exceptional outings were Keegan Bal, who added three goals and three assists, while Mitch Jones scored twice adding four helpers.

Friday night, North Texas got its first taste of Professional Box Lacrosse in front of an eager and excited group of home fans. It was an incredible moment to finally witness this level, of this exciting sport, back in the LoneStar State. Fans have been patiently waiting for another professional lacrosse team in the area since the departure of the Dallas Rattlers. This time it was a little different though, as Box Lacrosse is a different version of the game than field, and honestly we love it.

In a losing effort for the home team, Mike Triolo registered two goals and three assists, while Ryan Benesch tallied one goal and three assist.

The Vancouver Warriors led start to finish in this one with a 2-1 advantage at the end of the 1st quarter, opening up a 7 – 3 lead at the half, and then finally 11-5 heading into the final period.

Again, let us not understate how amazing everything was, from top to bottom, out at Dickies Arena. The atmosphere, the professionalism, the skill, the game, the venue, and the players were all top notch. While the outcome wasn’t exactly what the hosts had dialed in, there wasn’t much to be done as the Warriors Alex Buque in cage stood on his head. The Tendy saw 55 shots, making 47 saves, allowing only 8 Goals. He was the 1st Star of the Game and for good reason.

Ultimately when playing Box you have to finish. Plenty of opportunities for Panther City to capitalize on throughout the course of the game, they ultimately couldn’t solve Buque in cage. The Warriors are a good squad sitting at 2-0, and are 1st in the West after a 8-7 win over the San Diego Seals in Week 1. Panther City drops to 0-2 after a close loss to the Philadelphia Wings in Week 1 by a score of 12 – 11.

This is a great game, a great venue, and a great Professional Organization. StickStar and the #StickStarReport look forward to covering our Panther City Panthers throughout their inaugural season and throughout the exciting course of the Franchise!
